Twelve kilometres north of Patitiri, Steni Vala is an enchanting little port within a sheltered bay on the east coast. Two general stores, two café bars, four waterfront tavernas and a pleasing lack of commercialism provide the village with a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Views from the waterfront are over the fishing boats and visiting yachts to the island of Peristera. From Steni Vala the coast road continues north to the tiny fishing port of Kalamakia and passes many small coves and sheltered beaches of the beautiful region of Barbakis.
