We found the wide bay and village of Kioni to be one of the most beautiful we have discovered in the Ionian. The entrance is overlooked by three old windmills, and from here one sees the old village houses dotted on the hillsides behind the little port. The water is clear and there are four beaches within the bay itself, all with views across to the pastel coloured houses and surrounding olive groves.
Five tavernas are on the waterfront, serving fresh fish, traditional dishes and local wine. Three unpretentious café bars offer simple distractions. A general store sells nearly everything from snorkels to fresh peaches. One soon gets to know all the local characters, who we know to be warm-hearted and friendly.
Holidays in Kioni
Kioni has few visitors except for August and remains unspoilt, quiet and beautiful. Boats with outboard engines are available for hire in order to reach other beaches outside Kioni Bay.
