The international airport is on Vagar, one of the central islands and from there to Tórshavn, the capital, on the largest island of Streymoy is a 45 minute drive.  Sorvagur itself is a small village with a charming harbour and is from where you can catch a ferry to the  island of Mykines, home to thousands upon thousands of migratory birds and, of course, the puffin. Mykines is easily reached in 1 hour by small ferry from beautiful Sørvagur.
